“The construction of a space, both physical and metaphorical, is the impetus behind my work.  I am keenly interested in how a sense of place can be evocative of mood, memory and metamorphosis.
For the past several years I have looked to interiors and landscapes, and most recently, gardens for my subject matter.  Working in the studio with small paintings and drawings made on site for these spaces evolve in terms of scale and content and through the process of working to become symbolic rather than transcriptions of perceptual experience.  The work undergoes a tangible manipulation of medium and surface to reflect an amalgamation of many fleeting moments and personal impressions.”
